Tiny House Walk Through (Interior)

Version 1

Here we are, what everyone wants to see: The Interior!

For Shelley and i it was only 7 months ago and these were all just ideas on a pad of paper. Now we are living in the reality of it all and interacting with everything we dreamed up and it came out better than we expected. please follow along on our walkthrough…

Main Room

The Counter space in the Tiny House starts right by the door and wraps all the way around to the kitchen. 22 Linear feet of counter tops, this is way more than we had in our big house! 15 feet of those counter tops is under a window.

A closer view of the kitchen entry. On the leading edge of the loft we added book shelves so we can use them from down below and up top. The 8ft of bar top below the accordion window is where we spend a lot of time looking outside, eating socializing and working. It truly is a multifunctional space and with the view we have now it is incredible!

The Granicrete Counter Tops were made to resemble soap stone in color and texture. If your interested in Granicrete check out http://www.granicretenorcal.com/ they run about $80 Sq Ft for any custom application.

Floating Stairs

Floating Stairs

Floating Stairs

Designed by Zack Giffin of Tiny House Nation. These Stairs are made of Steel Tubing and Plate and topped with Epay with a Oak Inlay.  We went overkill on the structure to support the floating steps behind the wall so these stairs are sturdy as they possibly can be. I will shortly be building another set for a fellow Tiny Houser, so if anyone if interested in a set of stairs like this let me know!

DOM Tubing and 1/4″ plate gives these stairs a very solid structure and support.

The Tiny House Couch

This was the only thing in the tiny house that could not figure a solution out for. almost all tiny house couches we have seen before are usually built for storage first and comfort second.  we made out finding this couch at World Market. folds down to a twin sleeper and it super comfy for a small couch. the window behind it was actually supposed to be one foot shorter but there was an error in the order and we received this much taller window and we are happy we did!

Sliding Barn Door Ladder

In a Tiny House you need to make as much as you can dual purpose. Shelley has a genius idea of doing a barn door and incorporating the ladder on it. it something so simple and it works incredibly well we are surprised we don’t see it more often. the veneer is Stikwood reclaimed wood.

Unforgettable Fire Kimberley Stove

One of the things in the tiny house build we were looking forward most too, unfortunately its still not hooked up, we will have a post dedicated to it when we do…

Tiny House Bathroom

Tiny House Bathroom

Tiny House Bathroom

at 40 sq ft it’s not so tiny at all for a bathroom. the corner glass shower has a 40″ pan and the glass gives a wide open feel. the vanity on the left is 17″ wide and provides plenty of space for what we need it for. on the right you will see the LG ventless washer dryer combo and the Seperatt Villa 9200 Composting toilet.

The size of the sink has worked out very well even though it is smaller than we are used to. the mirror will soon get replace with a medicine cabinet style that will be able to use the electrical outlet directly behind it.

Big Corner Shower

Big Corner Shower.

We wanted a very spacious shower in our tiny house. many tiny houses also treat showers and bathrooms as an afterthought, not us… it was always on our mind!

Washer And Toilet

2 of the things we get asked the most about. we will answer a lot of those questions in our upcoming video series!

Tiny House Kitchen!

Tiny House Kitchen

This Kitchen is so much bigger than what we had in our 1300 sq ft house!

Utility Closet

This Hides all our unmentionables AKA tools, Jackets, Hats etc. we need to finish it with shelving before we show what it looks like inside.

Double Basin Sink

Double Basin Sink

We knew we had to give up a dishwasher and we do love our cups so we knew we needed a place to store a lot of dirty ones, hence a double basin sink!

Cup and Plate Storage

Cup and Plate Storage

We wanted exposed shelving for our cups and plates to not make the kitchen feel closed in. Since this is Version 1 you can see how it was set up when we moved in. We later scraped these shelves and mixed it all up for the better 🙂

GE 24" Propane Range

GE 24″ Propane Range

GE 24″ Propane Range

We were fortunate to walk in best buy one day and find this range as a floor model for $325 (regular price $750) it’s very rare to find a 24″ range in a store let alone a Stainless Steel one.

In the picture you can see our 8 cu ft Dometic Fridge (which is now for sale $1200) we decided to go for a bigger size to fit our needs better)

Saeco Espresso Machine

If you know my wife well you would know she loves her coffee! Good thing we already downsized from our professional La Cimbali Espresso machine to the Saeco Incanto deluxe (this was a first year anniversary present for her). It keeps Shelley happy every morning!

Bar Area

Not Enough Room for the 100 bottles in my bar collection so stay tuned for our solution to that problem…. Yes we did have to downsize in that area too.

Hanging Pans

As John Weisbarth Likes to say “vertical space in a tiny house is a must” that’s what we did here. we utilized the loft supports for hanging storage.

Once we get our new fridge we will then decide what to do with this space but it will probably be part of the pantry.

The Chalkboard will either show the Drink Of The Month for our new video series on this website or it will have cute notes from my adoring wife.

Second Loft View

Second Loft View

This view gives you an idea of how the rest of the house plays into each other. The wide open space and lack of any hallways creates a very open floor plan.

Edison Light Chandelier

Edison Light Chandelier

The gas pipes that makes up this chandelier give it that industrial look we like and the warm glow from the Edison bulbs helps liven up the space. We love these bulbs but they sure are energy hogs and since everything else in the tiny house is crazy efficient we have an equally cool replacement coming soon.

Shelley's Girly Loft

Shelley’s Girly Loft

We needed hanging space for the majority of our clothes so hung water pipe from the ceiling for our closet space. it runs 66″ long and Shelley has 36″ of that and i have the rest. We also cut down the vanity so it could fit below the window and it is more comfortable for Shelley to do her makeup while watching Gilmore Girls.

Water Pipe Closet Space

Believe it or not but this is the same amount of hanging space we had in our old 1300 sq ft house.

Master Loft

Master Loft

Master Loft

Right off the bat you’ll notice the storage built into the floor of the loft that surrounds the King size bed. This promotes a clear and clean lost space and holds enough clothes as two dressers. The Storage is about 8″ deep so the master loft has that much shorter of ceiling space compared to the secondary loft. This has not been a compromise in any way for use as the master loft being 12 feet deep still feels huge!

Thank You For Viewing Our Walk though, If you Have Any Questions Please Post Them In The Comments!
